4 Best places to Celebrate Saint-Jean

St-Jean Baptiste festivities are right around the corner and you should be prepared to take full advantage of Montreal’s favorite day of the year. This holiday is a chance to honor Quebec’s unique heritage, identity and history. June 24 is a statutory holiday for Montrealers and Quebecers of every creed, color and mother tongue.

Parade

On June 24, the parade starts at 1 p.m. on Saint-Denis Street at the intersection of Boucher Street and will end at the corner of De Rigaud Street. Surprise gifts are often handed out to onlookers who get there early.

Le Grand Spectacle

A Fête Nationale wouldn’t be complete without Montreal’s annual free outdoor concert. Celebrations take place over two days. The big show is presented in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles on the evening of June 23.

Picnic Électronik #6

Picnic Électronik #6 performances will run from 3 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Sunday at Parc Jean-Drapeau’s Plaines des jeux. DJ Fred Everything and DJ Mini will be featured, among others.

Bonfire

The tradition of lighting a bonfire around the summer solstice goes back centuries. Montreal’s official Fête nationale bonfire is expected to run the eve of June 24, 2017 in the Olympic Park as of 8 p.m.
